My wife really wants to see the Harry Potter Broadway show. If you aren’t already aware, tickets are hard to come by. Reasonably priced tickets, don’t exist. So for months I have been looking and looking...I was advised by a harry potter maniac, that the best chance you have at getting “cheap” tickets is to wait until they release a new batch and get in the online queue.
Well I did that this morning...I was able to get tickets but I’m uncomfortable disclosing what I had to pay for them. Highwayfuckingrobbery. I’m over Manhattan, and I hate sitting in one place and being quiet for long periods of time, but my wife will be overjoyed which is all I really care about. Still a hard pill to swallow...the things we do for the people/cars we love.
Quick 1502 update:
The package containing the title, service records, and 1502 badge has been stuck in customs since Sunday. It just moved today so hopefully I’ll have it by next week. Annnnnd...I got an email from the shipping company with a tracking number for the car!

At least you’re not getting tickets for Hamilton . You’d need lots and lots and lots and lots of Hamiltons for that.
I will say, though, that those shows are staggeringly expensive to produce. And it is a business, after all. Have fun, and I expect a full Oppo Review™ when you get back.

Hope you bought both shows. I found out the hard way the Harry Potter show is two separate shows in the same day. There’s a part 1 &2.

My wife plays in the local symphony orchestra. I dislike classical music. She can get me free tickets. I only go about 50% of the time to be a good sport.

I did. Got both parts back to back on a Saturday which is part of the reason they were so expensive.

I like classical music, but in just in the car/office when I need to focus or clear my head. Don’t think I could appreci ate it enough live. Nice that you do that for your wife.

While Broadway tickets are stupid expensive I still think it’s an experience. There’s nothing quite like seeing a big ticket show on Broadway. I’ll do it once every few years as a special thing.
OTOH there are lots of great smaller shows off broadway with reasonable prices and plenty of available tickets in NYC if that’s your thing.

I’ m unexpectedly taking my daughter to Universal Studios this weekend, mainly to visit the Harry Potter attractions. I just found out today that it is intentionally split up between 2 different theme parks so you can't see all of it on the cheapest ticket. You have to pay extra to get a multi park ticket. This sounds so familiar.

If there’s any specific pieces you know you like you can always keep an eye on your local symphony to see if they play it or something similar. They may have cheap enough tickets to be in the “eh why not?” range too . My local symphony has tickets as low as $20 for reference (they’re front row which is supposedly not ideal but I really like it.)
I think a lot of sound quality gets lost in any recording compared to being there in person. Especially if there’s a soloist, and you sit close enough to see and hear every little detail.

Wow that’s fucked. (Pardon the language). It has always been expensive to go to universal and Disney but working parents could still get by after saving a year. Now it’s almost unattainable unless you give up a lot.
That said, I hope and your daughter have a blast!!

Argh, this one’s on me. I should’ve warned you not to stick the badge in there. As soon as you added something not-paper to it? Bam. Stuck in customs.

T hat makes sense and I kind of thought that, but I’m kind of thinking a lot of things about this whole deal haha it’s hard to hone in on the details . I was tempted to have him fedex it, hoping that might be better but I didn’t. Anyway it was “processed through ISC NY” from Sunday until this morning. Now it’s “Arrived USPS Facility NY Distribution center” So hopefully it’s only a few days out.

Yeah, once it clears customs it’s pretty quick. But as soon as you mix something like a metal part in with the paperwork? They gotta give it the whole nine yards instead of the “weighs like paper, scans like paper, treat it like paper” process which in most cases is same-day.
